FIFA 18 Budget Overpowered Central Midfielders
Starter teams require cheap players!
So I’ve sorted a list of potential FIFA 18 budget central midfielders. On this list you’ll find 3 players from the Bundesliga, English Premier League, Serie A and Ligue 1. Not only will these players be cheap, they’ll also be very strong and possibly overpowered.
The Serie A has to be my go to league for starter teams. It’s cheap enough in the beginning, with great quality and is highly scale-able. I can’t wait to get my hands on the database to start scouting through the league. I’m certain that I’ll be using most, if not all of these budget central midfielders in FIFA 18.
Senad Lulic – Lazio
Lulic was a centre-mid in FIFA 16 and his card was insane. In FIFA 17 he was moved to left-back. He could be a Left midfield card although I really hope he isn’t. Lulic would be an outstanding box-to-box midfielder so hopefully he gets a CM card. Should he be a Left Midfielder, he’ll still be great on 7 chem at CM. He’d even be cheaper that way.
With 4* weak foot, High/High workrates, 80+ Stamina and is also 6’0 tall I don’t think you’ll find a better budget CM.
Marcelo Brozovic – Inter
Brozovic is a tricky one. All I’ve read from Inter fans is how poor he is yet his match stats suggest he’s doing alright. Although stats aren’t everything, they show that he’s contributing. In FIFA 17 his Second Inform was absolutely outstanding and my favourite card. It’s a certainty that he’ll have a central card and will be a great CM/CAM option, especially at the start of the game.
Allan – Napoli
This guy absolutely destroyed midfields at the start of FIFA 17 for me. I hope it’ll be the same in FIFA 18. He has everything you’re looking for in a midfielder and comes at a cheap enough price. His pace and strength. Allan gets absolutely everywhere. Not only that he bagged a couple of long shots for me. Granted it was unbelievably easy to score long shots in FIFA 17.
I’m a little on the fence when it comes to some of these options being budget. They will however be better value for money than anything you’ll get in the EPL. While these midfielders are widely known they’ll still be underused in FIFA 18. Every card listed below could get a better upgrade, however I feel like EA only go crazy over EPL players.
Jean Michael Seri – Nice
You’ll certainly be aware of who Seri is. Heavily linked with Barcelona, supposedly had talks with the club which unfortunately broke down. He also earned himself a TOTS in FIFA 17. Unless he gets a massive upgrade, Seri should still be a somewhat cheap option as he’s in Ligue 1 and the Ivory Coast nation link isn’t the best.
Morgan Sanson – Marseille
Another player that earned a TOTS card in FIFA 17. He managed to score 4 and assist 14 in 37 league games. While his FIFA 17 card was a CDM, he played mostly CM. Regardless of where he played in midfield, averaging a goal contribution every 2 games is impressive.
Youri Tielemans – AS Monaco
You guessed it! Yet another player that got a TOTS in FIFA 17. This name will be familiar to those that play Career Mode & Football Manager. He has bags of potential. I don’t believe there’s a better club for him to try and fulfill that potential at than Monaco.
While I’d advise that you stay away from this league in the beginning, I know that a lot of people will make EPL squads regardless. Here’s a couple of players that will help you dominate your opponent in midfield.
Henri Saivet – Newcastle
I believe Saivet is flying under the radar of most FUT players. He shown what he was capable of while out on loan at Bordeaux, it’s up to him to bring those performances to Newcastle. Either way, his base card will be a great bargain buy and I’m almost certain that he’ll be comparable to FIFA 17’s Renato Sanches. Big talk!
He’s exactly what you want from a starter centre-mid, fast, agile and has 4* weak foot. Not only that. His passing and shooting ability is above average.
Renato Sanches – Swansea City
Probably not going to be the best value for money purchase you’ll make this year (if you do). Despite his very likely downgrade, he’ll still be overpriced. Maybe even more so now that he’s in the Premier League. If he’s as dominant as he was at the beginning of FIFA 17, picking him up for 10-20k is going to do you more good than harm.
Manuel Lanzini – West Ham
I genuinely can’t wait to use this card. For the past 2 year Lanzini has been a great player for premier league starter teams. Formations with CAM’s are always popular so he’ll definitely get used. Lanzini should receive a considerable upgrade as he stepped up and filled Payets boots when needed. He’s a great set piece taker and it’s also very likely he’ll have 4* skills and 4* weak foot. Pacey, agile and very technical. What’s not to love?
Sebastien Rudy – Bayern Munich
Last season at Hoffenheim Rudy played 32 league games where he scored twice and assisted 9 times as a CDM. You’ll remember him from the TOTS Daily Knockout Tournement where he was a reward for winning. While that card was surprisingly average, there was much better options available at the time. At the beginning of FIFA 18 he’ll be a decent pick up with good passing &U long shots.
Daniel Didavi – Wolfsburg
Didavi is often outstanding at the beginning of FIFA games. He’s 5’10 and has a slight physical edge over other players in his position. His long shots are also outstanding. There’s one huge negative however. Didavi’s stamina is under 70 and he’s very injury prone. If you avoid working him too hard, allow him to sit deep and rifle off long shots he’ll be very effective for you.
Leon Goretzka – Schalke
Goretzka had a very good season and it didn’t go amiss. Bayern were heavily linked with him throughout the summer though nothing happened. With their recent recruitments he wasn’t really needed. I imagine that Goretzka will be very popular in the beginning if he gets a card similar to the one above. At 6’2 he also offers an aerial threat from set pieces or late runs into the box.
There’s a reason why this league is known for its greats. It’s a little unfortunate for FUT players that are fans of the league though. There’s very little to get excited about in terms of budget midfield options..
He had an alright 16/17 season bagging 3 times in the league and twice in the Europa league, he’s definitely going to be at least 80 rated. I could see him getting an upgrade though. Looking at his FIFA 17 stats I’m suprised that I never really faced him this year. I guess it’s because low tier Liga Santander teams aren’t that great.
