These are predictions. Card rarity and Ratings are subject to change.
FIFA 18 Manchester City Goalkeepers
Claudio Bravo – Manchester City/Chile – (FIFA 17 Winter Downgrades) 83 > 83 (FIFA 18)
Pep signed bravo because he was a great sweeper keeper that fitted well into his philosophy. Unfortunately it’s not paid off, in-fact it’s been quite a poor transfer in all honesty. Bravo should stay the same rating as his current winter downgrade card in FIFA 17.
Joe Hart – Manchester City/England – (FIFA 17) 84 > 83 (FIFA 17)
It’s looking very likely that Joe Hart will be on his way out of Manchester City for good this summer. Hart wants first team football and it’s a certainty that he will not be getting it at Man City. West Ham are looking to make a deal.
While Joe Hart was somewhat error prone while playing in Italy, he also made some outstanding saves.
Ederson – Manchester City/Brazil – (FIFA 17 Winter Upgrade) 81 > 83 (FIFA 18)
The goalkeeper situation at Manchester City has been interesting to say the least. I believe Ederson will be the number 1 keeper going into next season. Imagine paying £35m for a keeper only to keep him on the bench, I don’t see it happening. Unless he’s woefully bad, which he isn’t.
FIFA 18 Manchester City Defenders
Vincent Kompany – Manchester City/Belgium – (FIFA 17) 86 > 86 (FIFA 18)
Kompany is a tough one. Despite being injured most of the season, the games he did play, he done well in. His performance in the Manchester derby was also very good. My prediction is that he will stay 86 rated but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was to be slightly downgraded.
Nicolas Otamendi – Manchester City/Argentina – (FIFA 17 Winter Downgrade) 84 > 84 (FIFA 18)
Otamendi has had a decent second season at Manchester City. While he did get a winter downgrade, it was only a slight downgrade. He will stay 84 rated in FIFA 18 and hopefully come back stronger in his 3rd season.
Aleksandar Kolarov – Manchester City/Serbia – (FIFA 17) 79 > 80 (FIFA 18)
As Peps go to formation is 3 at the back, Kolarov found himself playing in the Centre-back position for a majority of the season. While his attacking output was much less, as you’d expect for a CB. Aleksandar Kolarov has shown that there’s more to his game than the outstanding attacking threat he provides, despite the occasional error. This looks like a great card to use in your starter team.
John Stones – Manchester City/England – (FIFA 17) 78 > 78 (FIFA 18)
I believe that John Stones has came under a lot of unwarranted criticism. He’s a young centre-back that has been asked to play differently, he took a while to adjust and is now looking decent. Taking on the number 5 shirt at City, I expect to see an improved 17/18 season.
FIFA 18 Manchester City Midfielders
Nolito – Manchester City/Spain – (FIFA 17) 83 > 81 (FIFA 18)
Nolito is a player I thought would excel in the premier league. Unfortunately I couldn’t have been more wrong. While he looked decent at Euro 2016, Nolito has offered very little since then. He’s been used mostly as a substitute and is likely to be heading for the exit this summer.
Leroy Sane – Manchester City/Germany – (FIFA 17) 79 > 81 (FIFA 18)
While Sane played most of his games on the left, he also had a fair share on the right. Not just as a winger either, sometimes when needed he’d play as a wing back. His athleticism makes him a great starter player in FIFA although his Skills and Weak Foot leave a lot to be desired.
Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City/Belgium – (FIFA 17) 88 > 89
A great improvement on his previous season. Kevin De Bruyne doubled his 15/16 premier league assist tally while playing only 10 more games in the 16/17 season. He’s the most exciting attacking player to watch and can create scoring chances from nothing. KDB is without a doubt one of the best CAMs to grace the Premier League.
David Silva – Manchester City/Spain – (FIFA 17) 87 > 87 (FIFA 18)
I can’t help but feel David Silva is seriously underrated by many. He’s been so consistent. Perhaps it’s because everyone is focusing on Kevin De Bruyne that Silva is never talked about? I can’t really say. It’s most likely that David Silva will be getting a CM card and maybe even a slight work rate change. It’s a shame that his ability is never truly reflected in FIFA.
Ilkay Gundogan – Manchester City/Germany – (FIFA 17) 85 > 85 (FIFA 18)
Ilkay was very unlucky to pick up an injury that’d keep him out for the rest of the season. He was showing that he was more than capable at Premier League level and performed really well in the Champions League Group Stages as well. I wouldn’t downgrade him, If he played out the whole season we may have even been talking about an upgrade.
Yaya Toure – Manchester City/Ivory Coast – (FIFA 17) 84 > 84 (FIFA 18)
Despite the contract fiasco that happened at the start of the 16/17 season, Yaya Toure has put his head down and played well. Not well enough for an upgrade but good enough to stay 84 rated. Yaya managed to score 5 goals despite playing CDM when he scored all 5.
Fernandinho – Manchester City/Brazil – (FIFA 17) 81 > 82 (FIFA 18)
Probably one of the most underrated holding midfielders in the Premier League. Fernandinho is great in both FIFA and real life. While it’s 100% that his card will be CDM, he has also played at Full-back this season. One or Two informs and he’ll be heading for the Gullit Gang.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this card. He’ll cost a good amount of coins at the start though.
Fernando – Manchester City/Brazil – (FIFA 17) 79 > 78
Fernando is another player that gets very little game times. He played 560 minutes of premier league football, mostly as a sub. It’s reported that Man City representatives are in Turkey holding talks with Besiktas. It will be interesting to see what comes of this.
Fabian Delph – Manchester City/England – (FIFA 17) 78 > 77 (FIFA 18)
I understand why Delph made the move however he’s just wasting away at City. Both Stoke and Newcastle United are said to be interested in him, hopefully he makes the move so he can return to playing regular football. He’ll be a decent starter player for people that are not spending money on day 1.
Bernardo Silva – Manchester City/Spain – (FIFA 17 Winter Upgrade) 82 > 84 (FIFA 18)
Signing for £43m Bernardo Silva has a lot to live up to. He scored 8, assisted 9 in 37 Ligue 1 appearances. His champions league campaign went a little quieter. It’s not really a desirable card in all honesty. Hopefully he gets an Inform through the middle so we can used him at CM on full chem.
Raheem Sterling – Manchester City/England – (FIFA 17) 82 > 83 (FIFA 18)
I remember at the start of the season, everyone was raving about Sterling. “Finally, Pep is going to get the best out of sterling. Just look at how he’s playing” and it held true across the season. While he did go quiet for periods, Pep may be the best thing that’s happened to him since joining City. I’m really excited to see what he produces next season, I loved his Player Of The Month card in FIFA 17.
This card will be insane at the start of FIFA 18, He’ll be right footed and on the right wing. Here’s hoping he gets a slight weak foot upgrade. 3* WF would do.
FIFA 18 Manchester City Strikers
Sergio Aguero – Manchester City/Argentina – (FIFA 17) 89 > 90 (FIFA 18)
This has been Agueros most prolific season with 30+ goals in all competitions, despite missing 7 games due to suspension and even being pushed out of the team by Jesus for a little while. The guy is class and he does deserve an upgrade.
Gabriel Jesus – Manchester City/Brazil – (FIFA 17) 78 > 81 (FIFA 18)
For the short time we got to watch Jesus before he was injured, the kid was absolutely insane. Jesus was very clinical scoring 7 premier league goals in 8 starts. He knew how to read the game and got on the end of great service provided by Silva, De Bruyne and others.
