FIFA 18 Web App Release Date & FAQ
FIFA 18 Web App Release Date & FAQ
It’s getting closer. We’re at most, 9 days away from the FIFA 18 Web app release date. However this year EA have taken measures to only allow certain types of players onto the FIFA 18 Web app. Continue reading to find out if you’re eligible to feature in the FIFA 18 Webstart.
FIFA 18 Webstart Requirements
The first bullet point is self explanatory. You must have created a FUT Club before August 2017. If the date on your club is any later than July 2017, it’s very likely that you don’t get access to the FIFA 18 Web app.
Again, point number 2 is easy to understand. If you are still able to play or sign into the FUT 17 web app, you’ll not need to pay attention to this.
The final bullet point is interesting to me. While it’s very obvious that any banned accounts will not be able to access the FUT 18 Web app. I wasn’t expecting EA to exclude accounts that have been warned or even reset for coin buying.
Perhaps this will mean a slightly smoother release. Maybe I’m just looking too much into the wording, we’ll have to wait and see.
Know your dates
Once the web app goes down on the 15th, we’ll probably see a static page that has a message similar to “The FIFA web app is going under maintenance. While we are preparing for FIFA 18”.
While the article says release is September 20th, it’s very common that EA will do a soft launch putting the web app up early. This in theory allows players to gradually enter the web app and shouldn’t end in server downtime or maintenance. Unfortunately, almost every year no matter how EA do it downtime is almost guaranteed. It’s possible we will see the web app on the 18th/19th.
I’m not a fan of the companion app, however if it’s all you have. This will be released as an update on September 21st. Check your app store on the day.
How EA decide what “Welcome Back Packs” you receive.
Welcome back packs have been a sore subject. There’s been rumours in previous years that your rewards are no longer based on FUT Founder (Est Date) status.
EA have finally said something regarding this topic however it is very broad and open to interpretation. The way I see it is, if you’ve not cheated you’ll get some level of rewards. Your EST date will still be taken into consideration and perhaps the most important factor. Finally, how many games you have played over the years.
As I said, this is just my opinion. Welcome back packs always seemed somewhat random, despite the web app saying otherwise.
If you have switched consoles, bad news…
You probably expected this. The earliest you’ll be able to start FUT 18 will be with EA/Origin Access. If you’ve switched to Playstation, unfortunately the 26th is the earliest you’ll be able to play FIFA 18 by pre-ordering the Ronaldo/Icon editions. You also wont receive welcome back packs.
I’ll just trade on the web app until Christmas…
Unfortunately you wont. If you haven’t played FUT 18 on your console or PC, you’ll be locked out of the web app at 12:00 a.m. GMT on the 9th of October. You can get around this though.
If your mates have a copy you could ask to borrow it or take your account to theirs and play FUT. Or if you’re really desperate and jimmy no mates, you could always buy a pre-owned copy and refund it.
I’m not even sure if game rentals are a thing in 2017 but if they are, that’s another option.
